Enhancing your Altmetric analyses using Dimensions data

Altmetric data, whether in badges or the Explorer platform, is an essential complement to more traditional impact metrics like citations or journal-based metrics. Sometimes seeing those impacts side by side and using them for comparative analysis can be tough without linked tools. With the help of the new Dimensions platform (launched by Digital Science in January) Explorer users now have a tool to make these complementary analyses much easier.

In this session Lily Troia, Engagement Manager for Altmetric, and Sara Rouhi, Director of Outreach/Advocacy for Altmetric and Dimensions provide a hands on overview of how data from the Dimensions platform can augment your Altmetric Explorer analyses.

The session focuses on:

• Using Dimensions data to create custom groups for comparative benchmarking and analysis
• Using Explorer export functions to merge Dimensions citation data with Altmetric data
• Using Dimensions author functions to do more custom Altmetric analysis for specific faculty
