Dr. Uttam Pal earned his B.Sc. (2008) with honours in Physiology from Presidency College, Kolkata and M.Sc. (2010) in Biophysics and Molecular Biology from the University of Calcutta, and Ph.D. (2016) from the Department of Chemistry of Jadavpur University. He studied the interaction of proteins with small molecules with a focus on the determination of hydrogen bond strength, under the guidance of Dr. N.C. Maiti at Indian Institute of Chemical Biology. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics from 2016 to 2018, where he studied nano-bio interfaces through classical and quantum chemical simulations. For the duration of 2018 to 2021, he served as a scientist in Technical Research Centre (TRC) project at the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences. His research fields are computational chemistry and material science. Currently, he is serving as guest associate editor for Frontiers in Chemistry and Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology journals.
