Sophia Nimphius

Professor of Human Performance (Sports medicine; Sports science and exercise not elsewhere classified)

Perth, Australia

Professor Sophia Nimphius is an internationally recognised researcher and practitioner for her contributions to improving applied practice in sport. Her research focuses on the enhancement of athletic performance and reduction of injury risk in athletes. Additionally, she advocates for the broader benefits of sport as a vehicle for social change. She was previously the Sport Science Manager at Surfing Australia Hurley High Performance Centre is currently a Professor at Edith Cowan University (ECU) with a collaborative role as High Performance Manager for Softball Western Australia. She has published over 90 scientific journal articles, 7 book chapters on enhancing athletic performance, has been a keynote speaker at numerous conferences internationally and has successfully attracted more than $1.5M of grant funding.
