Samuel Abalde

Postdoctoral researcher (Biological sciences)

I am interested in the use of phylogenomics, transcriptomics and genomics for studying diversity and evolution, with particular emphasis on invertebrates. My PhD studies focused on the phylogeny and venom evolution of the medically important cone snails, but then I pursued my postdoctoral research on sponges and acoelomorph worms. During this time, I explored several important questions regarding early animal evolution. I am also involved in the study of other invertebrates. Currently, I am using molecular methods to study the genomics of miniaturisation in gastropods.
