Riasat Islam

PhD Candidate and Associate Lecturer (Human-computer interaction)

I am currently a PhD student at the School of Computing and Communications, Open University, Milton Keynes, UK. My research is an exciting blend of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Wearable computing, Haptics, Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Health, Gait Rehabilitation, Neurological and Neurodegenerative disorders. My supervisory team includes Dr Simon Holland, Prof. Blaine Price and Dr Paul Mulholland. I am funded jointly by the Goldcrest Charitable Trust and The Open University. Previously, I was a Research Assistant at Uppsala University, Sweden working with the Department of Neuroscience and Division of Neuro-oncology. Prior to that, I have been a Research Intern at Intel's ICRI Cities in London while pursuing my Master's Thesis at University College London Interaction Centre (UCLIC). My thesis was supervised by Dr. Sarah Gallacher and Greg Jackson. Additionally, I am an Associate Lecturer at The Open University.
