Kurijn Buys examines electronic mouthpiece alternatives for musical wind instruments. He is currently a PhD student at the Open University (Milton Keynes, UK), directed by Dr David Sharp and Dr Robin Laney, and started investigating the subject at the Laboratoire de Mécanique et Acoustique (Marseille, FR) in 2011, with Dr Christophe Vergez. Kurijn Buys obtained a Master degree in Musical Acoustics at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris, FR), as well as a Master of Arts in Sound and Music Technology at the Utrecht School of Music and Technology (NL). He is active on a range of musically related research and artistic projects.
