Karsten Fyhn

PhD student at Electronic Systems, Aalborg University (Engineering)

Aalborg, Denmark

I am currently finishing my Ph.D. degree at Aalborg University, which concerns the application of the newly developed theory of compressive sensing for estimation and classification in signal processing systems. Compressive sensing is a novel mathematical concept that enables sampling below the Shannon-Nyquist rate when the signal of interest can be assumed sparse in some domain. I work on applying this mathematical concept to existing signal processing systems, such as wireless communication devices and radar systems. I also took my master degree from Aalborg University, where I followed the Elite programme in Wireless Communications, which is a special research based masters degree. I chose to apply for the Elite programme because I like to work with novel theoretical work and apply it in existing systems, where the assumptions the theory is based on, are challenged. After finishing my PhD I hope to find a job in the industry where I can use my knowledge about signal processing and wireless communications to create new technologies or improve on existing ones.
