John Armstrong

I am a PhD student in the Astronomy & Astrophysics group at the University of Glasgow. I am interested in the application of machine learning algorithms to solar flare data analysis with an emphasis on how machine learning can help magnetic field diagnostics in the chromosphere from optical flare observations. I am working with data from CRISP at the Swedish Solar Telescope (SST) and SOT on Hinode. In the future, I hope to work with data from the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) which is due to see first light in 2019.
