Independent researcher and consultant in the fields of higher education studies, open data and scholarly communication. Research coordinator for Africa, World Wide Web Foundation BA(Hons), University of Cape Town MPhil in Publishing Studies, Stirling University (UK) MEd, University of the Western Cape (South Africa) PhD candidate in Science Communication, University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) I am currently leading research projects on the institutionalisation of open data; university-community engagement and its impact on knowledge production and transfer; open data intermediaries; and the changing revenue models of university presses. In addition to my academic interests, I am the managing director of COMPRESS.dsl and a trustee of the not-for-profit, open access publisher African Minds.
