Arash Derambarsh is the Deputy Mayor of Courbevoie, in charge of sustainable development.
He received a Doctorate in Law (PhD in Law) by defending his thesis with the following topic : « The Issues and Legal Controversies of Food Waste from Antiquity to the Present Day » (May 30, 2025 - Yerevan State University) : https://theses.hal.science/tel-05232809v1

Passionate about sports, he is the Vice-President of the Courbevoie Sports football club.
Principally, he was the initiator of the campaign against food waste, which was enacted later as a law.
The objective of this initiative is to implement this law in Europe and throughout the world. This law was passed on 3rd February 2016 in France.

In 2019 in Sweden, he received the « Win Win Gothenburg Sustainability Award », the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for sustainable development. He became the first Frenchman to obtain this prestigious international prize.
He was also ranked among the 100 global personalities of the year by the American magazine « The Foreign Policy » in 2015 and his action against waste was rewarded in 2023 as one of the 10 most important initiatives on the European continent by the international organization « The Innovation in Politics Institute ».
From this fight, he published a book with Editions Fayard « Manifesto against waste ». This book received the prize for best political book of the year 2015 (Edgar Faure Award).
With the journalist from Le Figaro, Éric de la Chesnais, he published the book « Farmers : the reasons for despair » (Plon, 2017).
Finally, in 2019, he published the book « Fall 9 times, get up 10 » with the Editions du Cherche Midi.
