Generating evidence to improve the management of reproductive health issues among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women

thesis
posted on 2022-03-09, 02:21 authored by Emily Gilbert
This multi-methods PhD explored the reproductive health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, focusing on the burden of infertility and polycystic ovary syndrome, and service accessibility difficulties. Findings indicate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have less access to reproductive health services, both across the general practice and specialist settings, notably for management of infertility-related concerns. This evidence has the potential to enhance the delivery of culturally relevant, evidence-based care, prevention and promotion strategies. These findings also have implications for the development of policies and guidelines that are relevant to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander context.
