I would like to invite you to take part in my research. If you have any questions, please contact Sophie Shaw at U2269368@unimail.hud.ac.uk or my supervisor Chia-Yuan Lin at C.Lin@hud.ac.uk. What is the purpose of this study? This study examines how cultural background affects grief after the loss of a pet. It explores differences in grief intensity, social support, and religious coping strategies across various cultural groups. The aim is to help improve support for those grieving pet loss in multicultural societies. Can I take part? You can take part if: - You are 18 or older. - You have lost any type of pet in the past five years. - You identify with a cultural background (African, Asian, Middle Eastern, or Western). What will the study involve? You will complete an online survey that will take around 15-20 minutes. The survey asks about your grief experience, social support, and any religious or spiritual practices you used. It also asks about your cultural background and gender. Are there any risks or benefits? There are no physical risks, but the questions may bring up emotional memories. We’ll provide support resources if needed. There are no direct benefits, but your participation will contribute to a better understanding of grief across cultures. Do I have to take part and will my involvement be kept confidential? Your participation is voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time. Your responses will be anonymous, and your data will be kept confidential. Only the research team will have access to your data. What will happen to the results? Using quantitative research as method of collecting the data, it will be analysed to produce statistics which will be used in my final year project.
