Groundwater resource is the most reliable source of water for arid and semi-arid regions. Guaranteeing the sustainable management of this resource is one of the most important hydrogeological challenges. Because groundwater modeling is always affected by uncertainty, model-data fusion methods, such as data assimilation, can be used to constrain and quantify the uncertainty in the model results. This thesis presents a method for the assimilation of evapotranspiration data into hydrogeological models.
