Lithium-ion-based batteries are a key enabler for the global shift towards electric vehicles. Here, considering developments in battery chemistry and the number of electric vehicles, and the second-use and recycling of electric vehicles batteries, to estimate future demand of 8 battery materials, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, etc.
