An episode of classical play performance of Euripides in the Polish prewar lyceum is discussed in the context of changing social conditions after the I World War. Establishment of the “Moral Welfare Council” of parental associations and educators and their role in supporting high culture and classical dramas to counteract real or imaginary moral problems of the era are highlighted . The discussion centers on the Reytan Lyceum, one of the oldest Warsaw’s high schools.
