This is a joint response to the ICO consultation on draft guidance on consumer Internet of Things products and services. The draft guidance explains how data protection law and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (as amended) (PECR) apply when you process personal information in consumer Internet of Things (IoT) products, and the joint response raises several points of consideration, including the importance of elaborating on gendered and other community-based risks.
