This course booklet provides guidance on strategies for engaging with international students in higher education. Upon completion, participants will develop an understanding of four key areas: (1) cultural factors that influence international students’ learning experiences; (2) cross-cultural challenges commonly faced by international students in Australia; (3) the importance of recognising and appreciating students’ cultural backgrounds; and (4) practical strategies for managing interactions with students from diverse cultural contexts. Although the content is particularly relevant for academic staff, the strategies discussed are equally applicable to professional staff. The course is structured into four modules, each concluding with activities designed to reinforce understanding through practical application.
