Supporting preprint evaluation: open API for preprint peer reviews
Europe PMC is an open global database of life science publications and preprints with a mission to build open, full-text scientific literature resources and support innovation and discovery by engaging users, enabling contributors, and integrating related research outputs.
Europe PMC currently indexes over 680,000 preprints from 32 preprint servers. This presentation explores how Europe PMC builds trust in preprints. Including that Europe PMC has notices to highlight a research output is a preprint and that it may not have been peer reviewed or that it has peer reviews which are linked to the preprint so users can easily find preprint peer reviews for a preprint from different review groups and platforms. Europe PMC also links preprints to versions published in peer reviewed journals when available and has an article status monitor where you can enter preprint unique identifiers to retrieve updates on if the preprint is published/new-version/withdrawal/removed.
