This paper introduces the Drift Protocol v0.1: a minimal semantic attribution standard for AI and human contexts. As digital artifacts circulate across platforms and AI training corpora, attribution and provenance are often stripped away. The Drift Protocol provides a lightweight, portable framework for embedding stable identifiers (Drift-ID), versioning, and canonical sources directly into documents.

This work builds on the practice of semantic seeding, which addresses how concepts enter AI systems, by ensuring those concepts retain authorship and conceptual lineage as they spread. The identifier for this artifact is SAS-2025-V1, anchoring the “Semantic Attribution Standard” as part of the Drift Protocol ecosystem.
