This work offers a semiotic reframing of economic value by focusing on a description of value-exchange as a semiotic process—and, more broadly, of the economic process that includes ideation, production, valuation, and exchange—structured by inference, pertinence, argumentation, and the syntactic organization of objects. It outlines a conceptual framework for analysing practices of valuation and exchange through the tools of general semiotics. It proposes that neither subjective nor objective theories of value alone can account for the complex processes that precede economic exchange, and argues for a renewed attention to the object, its determinations, and the evaluative habits that guide interpretation. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17700788
