This poster was exhibited at the University of Brighton Research and Knowledge Exchange Week poster competition 2025 and won 1st prize.
The poster presents part of Chantal Spencer's current PhD research into participatory research design ethics. This section of Spencer's thesis addresses the challenges of working with models of disability and forms part of a broader study on working beyond models.

The study explores the benefits and limitations of engaging with models of disability, examining how academics and practitioners interact with them while acknowledging the complex and uncertain realities of disabled people's lives.

This research began as the "Models to Realities" symposium hosted by DisCReg (Disability Culture Research Group) (click here for link to recordings and details of that event). It is now being developed into a journal article, which we aim to submit for publication by the end of 2025.
