The STRING and DISEASES databases: Network comparison of neurological and psychiatric disorders

We constructed a combined network of Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Major Depressive Disorder. We selected the top-100 proteins for each disorder in DISEASES, retrieved a network for them from the STRING database, and clustered it to visualize how the disorders relate at the molecular level. Finally we overlaid it with data on druggable protein families and FDA-approved drugs.
