This teaching resource has been designed as an aid to develop revision strategies with students. It forms part of a 'How to Teach' Series. Research on the 'hidden curriculum' outlines that students with assessment knowledge can fair better (Koutsouris, Mountford-Zimdars and Dingwall, 2021). Furthermore, the social construction of assessment highlights that teaching assessment literacy to make criteria explicit is key (Hanesworth, Bracken and Elkington (2019). From evidence gathered in practice, students identify anxiety around preparing for exams. This resource is based on a creative pedagogy to engage students (Lin, 2011), using colour coding and examples to build revision strategies and skills to achieve exam success.
