This teaching resource has been designed as an aid to develop academic vocabulary and critical writing with students. It forms part of a 'How to Teach' Series. From evidence gathered in practice, students identified confusion around terminology. Research on the 'hidden curriculum' outlines that students with assessment knowledge can fair better ( Koutsouris, Mountford-Zimdars and Dingwall, 2021). Furthermore, the social construction of assessment highlights that teaching assessment literacy is key ( Hanesworth, Bracken and Elkington (2019). This resource is based on a creative pedagogy to engage students (Lin, 2011) to build skills.
