The IPON-CCHEs research program focuses on documenting and understanding Complex Climate-Health Emergencies (CCHEs) in Indigenous communities across the global South, including Uganda, Sri Lanka, India, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina. The project aims to explore the intersection of climate and non-climate stresses, co-generating knowledge to enhance resilience in health and food systems through pilot interventions. Operationalized through Indigenous Peoples Observatories, the research will involve a transdisciplinary team of scientists and Indigenous knowledge holders to build local capacity and strengthen community-led solutions. The program engages core Indigenous partners on the ground, strategic collaborators in universities, and global organizations PAHO/WHO, the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research and the Global Hub on Indigenous’s Peoples Food systems hosted at FAO.
