This report summarizes the results of an expedition to Colombia in September 2022. The specific aim was an overview of pholcid spider diversity and distribution in two distinct regions in Colombia: the Andean and Caribbean biogeographic regions. We visited 46 localities and collected 1353 adult specimens that are tentatively assigned to ~90 morphospecies (only 22 species are currently known from Colombia). This is now the world’s largest collection of Colombian Pholcidae. Our preliminary data suggest that the number of new species is approximately 77 (i.e., ~85% of the collected species are new). Of these 77 new species, 65 are represented by males and females. Our data suggest a high species turnover among localities and highly distinct faunal compositions in terms of genera among different biogeographic regions in Colombia. Excluding synanthropic species, only two of the 90 species were found in both biogeographic regions. We also give a brief summary of other major collections worldwide holding Colombian pholcid spiders, and outline some of the potential next steps in terms of publications and further collecting.
