ERICC Policy Brief _ Education Research Agenda for Northwest Syria
This policy brief highlights the education research agenda in Northwest Syria. It draws on a participatory research study that involved a broad range of stakeholders working in the region who contributed to a process of identifying challenges and research priorities on education. This brief summarises the key research priorities that are drawn from the comprehensive report (Nasser et al., 2024) and provides recommendations for policy audiences in the region.

● The context-related determinants of the education system and education outcomes
● The governance of education systems
● Developing teachers’ capabilities and opportunities within a dignified environment
● Designing tailored, accredited, context-relevant curricula and pedagogy
● Participatory, efficient, and just alternatives to upgrade infrastructure and allocate resources
The brief also calls for action to enhance coordination in conducting research on the conflict dynamics and their impact on education.
