The Nepal is the land of several races having the mountainous peaks to the plains, located in the South Asian region of the world. The paper deals with the nomadic race, Raute, of Nepal with some information for the documentation.

Raute is a community having sub clans, Shani, Rajput, Kalial, Salial, Sam Thakuri etc and their own customs and language. They wear their unique dresses. The woman wears vibrant and colourful outfit and ornaments whereas the male wears off- white clothing. There is no caste discrimination and hierarchy. They live in the forest using the forest resources and have the knowledge of forest produces and items. They often used to make the wooden utilities, locally known as Mulos, pirra, Hocus, Haluad etc. These are their produces used for the daily uses. In recent past, the forest products of Raute were in demand but nowadays, their market reduced due to less demand.

The lifestyle of Raute is forest dependent who never live near the human civilized habitat in the past. As the population of native place of Nepal is increasing, the forest land areas decrease so the Raute community can be seen near the villages of Nepal.
