Community Wealth Building: Case Studies of Scotland Pilots
In 2020-2021, the Scottish Government committed funding to develop Community Wealth Building action plans in five areas of Scotland– Fife, Clackmannanshire, Glasgow City Region, South of Scotland and the Western Isles. These are sometimes called ‘the Community Wealth Building pilots.’ This report provides an explanation of the pilot funding initially and subsequent implementation in the five areas. It also summarises pioneering work in Ayreshire, which influenced the pilots. The report explores the factors that may help or hinder community wealth building policy, with particular attention to rural and island contexts. The purpose is to provide an overview the development and implementation of Community Wealth Building policy through the pilot work.
