This dataset accompanies a systematic literature review (SLR) examining global media representations of climate change across traditional news outlets and digital communication platforms. The dataset consolidates information extracted from 21 peer-reviewed studies published between 2014 and 2024, spanning qualitative, quantitative, and computational research traditions. It contains structured data on study characteristics, research designs, analytical frameworks, geographical focus, thematic categories, and dominant media frames related to climate change communication.

Data were collected through a transparent multi-stage review process, including database searches, eligibility screening, full-text evaluation, and thematic coding. Each item in the dataset includes details on authorship, methodology, sample type, media platform, narrative strategies, and key findings. Additionally, keyword lists from all studies were harmonised to generate a cross-study co-occurrence network, which is included as a separate file for researchers interested in meta-analysis or bibliometric mapping.

This dataset enables comparative analysis of climate communication trends, framing practices, media biases, and the emergence of misinformation across platforms. It is intended for researchers, journalists, policymakers, and students working in climate communication, media studies, and environmental sociology. The dataset also supports replication studies, cross-regional comparisons, and computational text analysis workflows.
