This research is focused on using Artificial Intelligence and laser cell processing to produce human cardiomyocytes from stem cells. We used human induced pluripotent stem cells with directed differentiation to atrial specific cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) to train AI on how to recognize and discriminate cardiomyocytes from other cell types. We call this approach CM-AI. Laser processing is used after AI detection of wanted cell types to eliminate unwanted cell populations in 2D adherent cell culture dishes. We demonstrate the utility of CM-AI for robust CM production with excellent recovery from cryopreservation.
