This movie was created from a stack of confocal microscope images of a 3rd instar larval brain from the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster.

The brain tissue was stained with anti-DE-cadherin. The axon tracts developing in the centre are secondary axon tracts.

Two spherical brain hemispheres can be seen on either side of the upper part of the ventral nerve cord.
