One grid cell (mEC, layer II/III) wirelessly recorded as a rat forages for randomly scattered food in a large (~2m square) enclosure.

Recorded by Roddy Grieves in the lab of Professor Kate Jeffery, University College London.

The animal's path is traced as a faint grey line, the activity of one grid cell is plotted on top of this as red markers. The video speed increases with time in order to compress 45 minutes of coverage into a short video. The video ends by showing the false colour firing rate of the cell.

Further information regarding the techniques used here can be found in the references for this video.
