Hydrogen detection in stressed automotive lithium ion cells provides actionable signal to prevent thermal runaway. Test description:

Cylindrical cells: NCA cathode, 12.5 W heating, 2170 trade name

Pouch cells: NMC cathode. Either 110 W heating, or 1 C overcharge to thermal runaway, or 0.25 C overcharge mitigation.

Prismatic cell: LFP cathode 230 W heating.
