This research aims to uncover the mechanisms that achieve syntactic cohesion in the surface structure of the text and their impact on establishing textual coherence, as well as the meanings derived from their formations in Surah Nuh. These mechanisms are represented by reference, conjunction, and ellipsis. To achieve this objective, the research sought to transcend the framework of sentence analysis as a final analytical boundary, moving beyond it to analysis at a broader level, namely the text level, which encapsulates the overall meaning. The text was analyzed into its smallest components and their interrelations. The research concluded with several findings, the most significant of which is that textual analysis revealed the importance of syntactic cohesion devices that worked in harmony to construct the text, establish its textuality, and facilitate its comprehension and assimilation. Pronouns emerged as the most frequent referential elements in the Surah, playing a clear role in linking the text’s components, thereby rendering the text a tightly woven, cohesive whole. Conjunctions contributed to the sequential flow of ideas, text linkage, and the structuring of its parts distributed within its scope, ensuring consistency. As for the ellipsis in the Surah, although sparingly used, its employment was precise, leveraged to expand meaning, allow for multiple interpretations, and contribute to text cohesion.
