أثر التحليل التقابلي بين العربية والإنجليزية في تعليم الصوامت لغير الناطقين بالعربية The Impact of Contrastive Analysis between Arabic and English on Teaching Consonants to Non-Arabic Speakers
This study relies on the contrastive approach, which represents one of the modern domains within the field of linguistics. The research aims to elucidate the concept of this approach, distinguish it from the comparative approach, and outline its objectives, which are based on contrasting two distinct languages. Among these objectives is the comparison at one of the four linguistic levels—specifically the phonological level—applied to consonants between Arabic and English. The purpose is to identify points of similarity and divergence between the two languages, highlight the most prominent challenges, and predict the difficulties that learners may encounter due to these differences. Subsequently, the study seeks to propose solutions to these challenges, clarify errors, and overcome obstacles for non-Arabic speakers. It also emphasizes the effective role that contrastive analysis plays as a fundamental pillar of applied linguistics in the context of teaching Arabic. Furthermore, it explores how phonological issues between the two languages can be addressed and the mechanisms provided by contrastive analysis to enable learners to comprehend the language more smoothly and effectively.
