In the time of the European accession, Romanian mental health witnessed a
window of opportunity in developing international projects that aim at
the improvement of the public sector of care. The article will present a
brief historical background of these collaborations, as well as the
content and status of progress of two Twinning Projects that focus on
improving of mental health care and on implementing of training programs
in the field. The outcomes of these projects, due to end in late 2009,
will allow the Romanian Ministry of Public Health to have a solid ground
for policy change and in supporting modern, integrated, service
development.
