THE IMPACT OF PREVAILING SITUATIONS, GOVERNMENT POLICIES, AND LEGAL AND ETHICAL ASPECTS ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF SENIOR CITIZENS
This study examines the impact of prevailing situations, government policies and programmes, legal aspects, and ethical aspects on the quality of life of senior citizens in Chhattisgarh, India. Using a sample of 400 senior citizens aged 60 years and above, the research employed a structured questionnaire translated into Hindi and validated by experts, comprising 71 items. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS 25 and Smart PLS 3, with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM) utilized for assessing relationships between variables. The findings reveal that both prevailing situations and government policies significantly enhance the quality of life for senior citizens, as indicated by significant positive relationships and low p-values. Conversely, legal and ethical aspects were found to have no significant effect on quality of life. The study highlights the importance of improving living conditions and government interventions while suggesting a reassessment of legal and ethical frameworks to better address the needs of the elderly. Limitations include geographic restriction to Chhattisgarh and potential biases in self-reported data. Future research should expand to other regions and explore additional factors influencing the quality of life, such as psychological aspects and community engagement, to develop more effective policies and practices for senior citizens.
