Supplemental Figure 2: Repeated intracranial infusion protocol does not cause neuronal degeneration. Representative fluoro-jade staining of coronal sections taken through the ventromedial hypothalamus (VMH) following 1) sham treatment where microinjection needles were inserted through the guide cannulas into the VMH for 3hrs/d for 3 consecutive days (Sham; N=2) or 2) following insertion of microinjection needles and daily 3hr infusions of artificial extracellular fluid for 3 consecutive days (3hr Infusion; N=2). The fluoro-jade staining pattern was similar between the two treatment groups, indicating the 3hr infusion protocol did not cause any neuronal damage in the VMH.
