Abstract:
The emerging field of phytonanotechnology, which combines nanotechnology with plant science, has recently attracted considerable interest. This discipline utilizes phyto-nano formulations, integrating plant-based compounds or extracts with nanotechnological approaches, offering benefits such as improved absorption, precise delivery, and the regulated release of active ingredients. Across various scientific fields, there is a growing emphasis on exploring the chemical makeup and traditional uses of medicinal plants, with the potential to create innovative products with fewer side effects than conventional drugs. Nevertheless, the development of nanomedicines faces numerous obstacles, including the need for standardized production methods, thorough nanoparticle characterization, and determination of ideal nanoparticle characteristics for specific applications. Owing to the complex nature of nanomedicines, sophisticated testing is essential to ensure that nanoparticles possess all the necessary qualities for their intended therapeutic use. The expansion and manufacture of nanomedicines for pharmaceutical purposes present unique challenges, as traditional drug production processes are not designed to create intricate, nanoscale systems with multiple components arranged in specific three-dimensional configurations. To progress nanomedicines from theoretical concepts to clinical implementation, it is necessary to integrate innovative scientific approaches with established pharmaceutical methods along with a comprehensive understanding of clinical and product development protocols, including regulatory requirements. Collaboration between academic innovators and industry experts across disciplines is vital for fully realizing the therapeutic potential of nanomedicines to benefit patients.
