<p dir="ltr">This study focuses on the analysis and conservation of the historical document “Registros de Ofícios do Gov-erno da Paraíba ao Congresso, El Rey Príncipe Real e Ministro do Estado”, from 1822, highlighting its impor-tance for memory and cultural identity. Using a qualita-tive methodology adapted from the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI), the research details a conservation in-tervention in the collection of the Irineu Pinto Library, at the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Paraibano (IH-GP) located in the city of João Pessoa - Paraíba, Brazil. Through a precise diagnosis, we identified the damage and defined treatment techniques stressing the impor-tance of preventive conservation and restoration in pre-serving documents for their future use. The work em-phasizes the evolution of preservation practices in Brazil and the need for formal conservation policies. It thus contributes valuable reflections for collection managers and promotes the implementation of appropriate and sustainable technical solutions for bibliographic docu-mentary heritage protection.</p>
