This repository contains supplementary information material, global maps, and the R code scripts to reproduce all analyses in the study of subsurface marine heatwaves of Fragkopoulou et al., 2023 in Nature Climate Change.

List of contents:

1. Complementary supplementary information for the validation of the GLORYS12V1 reanalysis against in situ temperature data from NOAA (NOAA timeseries.zip) and Polar moorings (Polar moorings timeseries.zip) datasets. Plots depict temperature variability from the mean between the GLORYS12V1 dataset (red colour) and in situ temperature timeseries (blue colour).

2. Global maps for various MHW metrics and biodiversity exposure for eleven depths (MHW metrics global maps.zip).

3. R scripts folder (R scripts.zip) containing R code, configuration files and the necessary spatial data for the download and process of temperature reanalysis data for all MHW analyses. Scripts are numbered to facilitate replication. Important Note: Temperature data occupy a space of approximately 4TB.
