This is a study protocol to identify the various challenges that hinder the translation of plant anticonvulsants from bench to bedside. The research question is “What are the key challenges preventing the effective transition of plant anticonvulsants, despite extensive research efforts, from the laboratory setting to clinical practice?”. The PICOTS framework was used to develop the inclusion and exclusion criteria in this protocol. It is anticipated that the results of this scoping review will provide a comprehensive understanding of the key barriers hindering the successful translation of plant-based anticonvulsants from preclinical studies to clinical application, guiding future research, promoting evidence-based solutions, and supporting the integration of traditional medicines into modern epilepsy treatment strategies.
