To understand the modus operandi of the discourse of hysteria, the paper proposes to derive its assembly from the characteristics and operation of the hysterical clinical structure. To circumvent the enjoyment, hysteria cultivates dissatisfaction: the lack, in the position of truth, cannot be met by the Other, in the position of production. And, at the same time that she highlights the limitation of the Other, the hysteric offers herself to overcome it: the subject, in the position of agent, places herself as object of desire of the Other, in the position of other of the discourse. As a social link, however, the discourse of hysteria does not necessarily involve hysterical subjects from the clinical viewpoint. What distinguishes the latter is the fact that they cling to the questioning of the disjunctions of impotence, below, and of impossibility, above, and thus become fixed on the internal dynamics of the discourse.
