Representative data showing the relative proportions of genetically marked VEEV clones in mosquitoes infected with a high dose bloodmeal (5.7log10 pfu/ml) as determined by real-time RT-PCR and extrapolation of infectious titers using standard curves for (A) the midgut and body of a single mosquito on day 4 post infection, (B) the body and legs/wings of a single mosquito on day 8 post infection and (C) the body, legs/wings, day 3 serum and brain for a single mosquito and the mouse infected after a transmission event, respectively. The complete results can be found in Figures S3–5.
