In #MySciBlog survey (2014), I asked science bloggers, in an open-ended question, to describe their motivations to start their science blogs, and (separately) their motivatiosn to continue their science blogs. I imported these open-ended responses as text into AtlasTi for qualitative open coding and analysis. The resulting codes/categories of movations to blog are presented in this figure, with mention frequency for each code in parentheses.

A total of 580 survey participants responded to the question "describe the major motivations you had to start your science blog." A total of 568 survey participants responded to the question "describe the major motivations you had to continue your science blog."
