FldP mitigates H2O2-induced cell death in a mutT-deficient P. aeruginosa.

The mutT mutant strain (transformed with the empty plasmid p2) was tested for resistance to H2O2, and compared with its wt parental strain (harboring p2), and with mutT mutants transformed with p2-fldP or p2-isiB. Bacterial cultures were normalized to ∼108 cells and then incubated with 50 mM H2O2 for 30 min at 37°C. Viability was estimated as described in Materials and Methods. Measurements were carried out in triplicate for two independent experiments, and the results were expressed as means with their ± SEM. Statistically significant differences (P<0.05) are identified by * (one-tailed Mann-Whitney test).
