Sequence alignments of representative members of the dynamin superfamily comparing conserved GTP binding motifs and the trans-stabilizing loops important for G dimerization. Conserved key residues that were mutated to alanine in our study are marked with a dot. Species abbreviations are hs, Homo sapiens; rn, Rattus norvegicus; sc, Saccharomyces cerevisiae; dd, Dictyostelium discoideum; at, Arabidopsis thaliana; MxA, interferon-induced GTP-binding protein A; ! represents one of the amino acids of IV; # represents one of the amino acids NDQE.
