The participants location is represented by a green circle (target). This figure illustrates the layout of the virtual environment as displayed on the computer monitor, which requires the target to make a series of left and right turns. Once coming to a full stop, one of the two TMS coils will administer a single pulse over the participants occipital lobe depending on the programmed route (blue arrows). If participants respond correctly to the voice-automated questions that follow, the target will make a 90° turn in order to advance towards the next location. Perceiving all lateralized phosphene percepts allows the target to successfully exit.
