Translamellar bridges observed in ice-templated alumina. Type 2 bridges, resulting from overgrown surface ridges. The lamellar structure is horizontal, and the bridges are the vertical features bridging adjacent lamellae. Sucrose was used as an additive in this case to enhance the formation of these bridges. This can be used to enhance the mechanical properties.
